SIAL Paris brings the international food trade together. For theGreex, the commercial priority is clear: strengthen existing relationships, develop new producer partnerships and connect Greek food production with the buyers who need it.
Our work centres on a practical gap in the market. Many Greek producers have products suited to international buyers but do not have an established export department. Importers, retailers and foodservice distributors, meanwhile, need clear specifications, reliable communication and a workable supply plan. theGreex connects those two sides directly.
SIAL Paris 2026: the scale of the opportunity
SIAL Paris 2026 runs from 17 to 21 October at Paris Nord Villepinte. Ahead of the exhibition, trade publication Food and Drink Technology reported expectations of up to 8,000 exhibitors and 295,000 professionals.
These are pre-show expectations, not confirmed final attendance figures. As this article is published on the closing day, we are not presenting them as completed 2026 results. For context, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Foreign Agricultural Service records more than 7,500 exhibitors and 285,000 visitors for the completed 2024 edition.
The scale matters because food sourcing is rarely solved by finding a product alone. Buyers also need the right producer, the right commercial terms and the right route to market.
Continuing connections, building new partnerships
theGreex is continuing conversations with producers and buyers, looking for solutions that can turn a first contact into a viable supply relationship. Our focus is not simply to introduce companies. It is to understand what each side needs before a commercial commitment is made.
For a buyer, that can mean identifying a Greek producer able to meet a particular product brief, packaging format or distribution requirement. For a producer, it can mean clarifying the buyer’s specifications, organising the next steps and maintaining communication as an export opportunity develops.
We approach new partnerships with the same discipline as existing relationships: start with the actual requirement, establish what the producer can supply and agree a practical way forward. We do not treat a meeting or an introduction as a completed deal.
The export department for producers who are not export-ready
theGreex acts as the export department for Greek companies that do not yet have their own export capability. We bring an export-oriented team to the commercial relationship, while keeping the producer and the buyer directly connected.
This approach gives buyers access to Greek producers beyond those with a large international sales operation. It also allows producers to develop export opportunities without first building an entire in-house export department.
Our role is to help align the product offer with the market requirement: specifications, samples, packaging options, available quantities, documentation and delivery expectations. What is possible must be confirmed with the relevant producer and for the specific order.
Direct Greek products, without extra intermediary cost layers
Our model is built around direct producer-to-buyer sourcing, not a chain of resale intermediaries. By working as the producer’s export department, theGreex aims to avoid additional intermediary cost layers and keep the commercial offer focused on the product and the buyer’s requirements.
That does not mean freight, testing, packaging or export services have no cost. It means those requirements should be discussed clearly, rather than obscured within successive trading margins. Final prices, minimum order quantities and delivery terms are confirmed for each product and order.
For importers, retail buyers and distributors, the value is a clearer sourcing relationship: direct access to production, one coordinated point of contact and commercial terms grounded in what can actually be supplied.
From exhibition conversations to a sourcing plan
A useful next step starts with a clear buying brief:
- Product and specification: the category, grade, ingredients and quality requirements.
- Format and positioning: retail, foodservice or bulk packaging, including private-label requirements where relevant.
- Volume and timing: indicative quantities, target delivery dates and destination market.
- Verification: samples, documentation and any testing or certification needed before approval.
With those details, theGreex can work with Greek producers to identify a suitable offer and establish the next steps. Our objective is lasting commercial partnerships, not simply a larger contact list.
